Seared Ahi Poke is specialty of the house and was excellent. Our local friend eats here often and the food is consistently wonderful. Ono Furikake on mesclun salad w/wasabe dressing was also very good. Thumbs up on the hokalau turkey sandwich. Our favorite restaurant on in Hilo.

On an island with many great places to eat (most pretty expensive), Cafe Pesto stands out - incredibly delicious food - in Hilo and Kawaihae. Not cheap, but value for the money; I like to have lunch there when on the Big Island. Nice relaxed atmosphere.

The food is amazing and the staff aims to please. In my travels around the world, it is hard to find anywhere that serves such fresh and innovative cuisine yet is able to maintain a relaxed atmosphere. Try the lilikoi cheesecake, creme brulee or a pohoiki passion margarita for the perfect end to a wonderful meal.

The salads and breads are spectacular, and the pastas are wonderful. Everything here, including the staff, are well above average. The interior is nice and airy with high ceilings and you have a nice view of the water if you're near one of the big front windows. Watch out for when the cruise ships pull into port. This place seems to get slammed hard with hungry tourists and their kids. After lunch/dinner, it's fun to wander along the street out front and peek in the shops.
